Ready for a New Adventure

After three great years in Provo and Springville, and (nearly) two amazing years of marriage, we are ready for the next step in our lives, which will involve a move to Dallas, new jobs, and new experiences. This new journey began in August 2011 when Taylor applied for the Teach for America program, a national program that places highly qualified individuals in low income schools. We tried not to get our hopes up because the program accepts about 9% of its applicants but it was hard to not get excited about the prospect of closing the education gap in America. On November 8, Taylor received the email informing him that he had officially been accepted into the 2012 Teach for America Corps and would be placed in Dallas to teach  high school science. It was a dream come true for both of us and we couldn't believe it was actually happening.

The planning started immediately but we still had to focus on our classes through the end of the Fall semester and the entire Winter semester. We both managed to find time for everything and successfully graduated from BYU (Taylor) and UVU (Maddie) just a few weeks ago. Now that we are officially finished with college, we can turn our full attention to the move and all the exciting things that will happen over the next two years. Taylor will find out where he is teaching in Dallas during the first week of June and will started a Master's program in Teaching and Learning at Southern Methodist University during the summer following his first year of teaching (fully funded by Teach for America!!) Maddie is in the process of securing a job in the Dallas area and is hoping to convince Taylor to have kids sooner rather than later!

This is our first blog together and we will try to update it at least once a week! We will post stories and pictures and hope everyone enjoys it!
